But can anything replace the feeling of foolishness and dispondancy when it all goes wrong and the only witnesses are hooded hostiles?

Oh yeah there is nothing so fun as to laugh and be laughed at with friends whilst you are swept out to sea in a vicious rip. But to eat sand on ones own after failing to catch a wave for over an hour.....is this truly the meaning of being a crap surfer.
